The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college provides a powerful platform for students to engage in community service, nation-building and social transformation. Through a wide range of extension activities, awareness programmes and rural camps, NSS helps students to understand real-life problems and contribute meaningfully to society.
The college runs two independent NSS units for Senior College and Junior College (+2), each of which actively involves students in programmes related to health, hygiene, literacy, gender sensitization, environmental protection and rural development.
NSS activities are designed to develop in students a keen interest in social work and a deeper understanding of social issues such as poverty, inequality, health, sanitation, environment and rural development. Regular activities include:
These experiences help students to become socially sensitive, empathetic and responsible citizens, with a strong orientation towards community development and public welfare.
A key highlight of NSS is the 7-day Special Winter Camp in a village organised every year. This camp offers students a firsthand experience of rural life, local governance and community needs, while they conduct various developmental and awareness activities.
Students who complete two years of NSS service along with the winter camp receive a certificate from the university and are eligible for 5 grace marks in their degree course. Outstanding volunteers may get the opportunity to participate in Republic Day Parade at Mumbai or New Delhi , gaining national-level recognition.
NSS thus not only adds value to the student’s academic record but also significantly strengthens their leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
