Safe & Gender-Sensitive Campus Environment

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Shardabai Pawar Arts, Commerce & Science College is constituted in line with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the guidelines of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and UGC. The ICC is responsible for preventing and addressing incidents of sexual harassment and ensuring a safe, respectful and gender-just environment for all women employees and students on campus.

Any form of sexual harassment, including eve-teasing, humiliating or intimidating behaviour, violates fundamental rights to equality and dignity. The institution is committed to taking prompt action on complaints and to ensuring that complainants and witnesses are not victimised or discriminated against during or after the enquiry process.

Objectives of ICC

  • To create and sustain an environment free from sexual harassment, intimidation and exploitation.
  • To sensitise students and staff about gender equality, respect and professional ethics.
  • To build confidence among women to report incidents without fear of retaliation.
  • To ensure that all cases are handled with fairness, confidentiality and due process.
  • To recommend preventive and corrective measures to the college authorities.

Functions of ICC

  • Receive written complaints of sexual harassment from students, teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Conduct preliminary scrutiny and, where required, initiate formal enquiry procedures.
  • Provide support to aggrieved women through counselling and guidance.
  • Recommend appropriate disciplinary action to the competent authority on the basis of enquiry findings.
  • Organise orientation, awareness and training programmes on prevention of sexual harassment.
  • Maintain confidential records of complaints, proceedings and outcomes.

Internal Complaints Committee - Composition

The ICC comprises faculty, non-teaching staff, students and an external member as per statutory guidelines, to ensure impartial, sensitive and effective handling of complaints.
